Kashmir's well-known half, and the hidden one.
An 8-day route that covers Srinagar's gardens, Pahalgam and Gulmarg — then crosses into Gurez Valley, where the Kishanganga River runs past the last village before the Line of Control.
Three familiar days. Two you won't find on most itineraries.
Days one to three cover the Kashmir most travelers expect — Srinagar's Mughal gardens, a Shikara ride on Dal Lake, the valleys around Pahalgam, and the Gulmarg gondola. Nothing rushed, nothing skipped.
Then the route turns north over the Razdan Pass into Gurez — a valley the Kishanganga River cuts through, where Dawar's guesthouses run without a phone signal and Chakwali is the last inhabited village before the Line of Control. Two nights there, then back through Wular and Manasbal, two lakes most trips never have time for.
Day by day, Srinagar to the edge of the map
Welcome to Srinagar & a Dal Lake evening
Arrive at Srinagar Airport and settle into your hotel. In the afternoon, walk through the terraced Mughal gardens — Chashme Shahi, Nishat and Shalimar — before an evening Shikara ride across Dal Lake as the mountains reflect in the water.
Saffron fields, pine valleys & Bollywood's backdrop
Drive out to Pahalgam past the Pampore saffron fields and the 9th-century Awantipora ruins. Spend the day across Aru and Betaab valleys and Chandanwari — the starting point of the Amarnath Yatra — with optional horse riding through the meadows, before returning to Srinagar.
Meadows, the gondola & the world's highest golf course
Head to Gulmarg for its rolling meadows and Himalayan panoramas. Take the optional Gondola for views across the Pir Panjal range and Apharwat Peak, walk past the world's highest golf course, and — in season — try skiing, sledging or snow biking.
Over the Razdan Pass, into Gurez
No cell signal from hereCheck out and begin one of Kashmir's most scenic drives, crossing Razdan Top for panoramic views of forests, meadows and distant ranges, before descending into Gurez. Check into your guesthouse and spend the evening beside the Kishanganga River.
Tulail Valley & India's last village
A full day exploring the least-visited corner of the itinerary — Habba Khatoon's spring beneath the peak named for Kashmir's legendary poetess, the Tulail Valley's wooden hamlets, the Angaikothi region, and Chakwali, the last inhabited village near the Line of Control. Close the day in Sheikhpora, home to the Dard-Shina community.
Back over the pass, past two lakes
Leave Gurez and drive back toward Srinagar, stopping at Wular Lake — one of Asia's largest freshwater lakes — and Manasbal, Kashmir's deepest lake, known for its lotus blooms and clear water, before arriving back in the city by evening.
The Valley of Milk
Drive into the Pir Panjal range to Doodhpathri, named for the milky-white streams that run through its meadows. A quieter, less-crowded alternative to the bigger hill stations, with wide grasslands and uninterrupted mountain views, before returning to Srinagar.
Tour ends
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Srinagar Airport for your onward journey — with eight days of gardens, valleys and one hidden border-valley behind you.
